We gather at 4.30 pm for 5:00 pm start at Don Bosco Centre - Upper Room, 10 Mamre Rd, St Marys

WHAT IS THE LORD'S DAY MEAL? The Disciples of Jesus Covenant Community has sought to establish a Christian culture as part of its life. Saturday night, in the Australian culture, has been a traditional night where families celebrate the end of the working week, by cooking a special dinner, going out for an evening’s entertainment, or inviting guests home. Therefore, the Disciples of Jesus found this night to be the most suitable for having Christian Fellowship meals. The meals incorporate the following:

• The lighting of the candle (representing Christ, the Light of the world)
• The reading of Scriptures
• The sharing of bread and wine (symbols of fellowship, and Lord’s provision)
• Followed by a shared meal provided by the members.

Our desire is to make this Saturday Evening Meal (the Vigil of the Lord’s Day) not only the opportunity for Community members and their guests to enjoy Christian Fellowship, but also to be an occasion where we would do it in the context of prayer and faith, mindful of the manner in which Jesus would have given thanks, as we celebrate the first day of the week – the Lord’s Day.
